Use Graphivo from Claude

Connect Graphivo to Claude, or to any assistant that speaks MCP, and design together: it can create designs, change them, look at the result and export the files, while you watch the changes appear in the editor.

What you can ask

  • “Make an Instagram post for our Friday jazz night: dark, elegant, with the date big.”
  • “Open my Spring Sale flyer, make the headline orange and align everything to the left margin.”
  • “Design four logos for Bluebird Bakery, then put the one I pick on a business card.”
  • “Export pages 1 to 3 of the menu as a print PDF with crop marks.”

Creating, editing and previewing designs is free (within fair-use limits), and downloads come with a package, as in the app. The AI tools (generating logos and designs, Ask AI changes, Image Trace and AI pictures) use your account's credits, exactly as they do in the app.

Connect from claude.ai

  1. Open Settings › Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Graphivo and enter the URL https://graphivo.com/mcp.
  3. Choose Connect. Sign in to Graphivo if asked, check what Claude may do, and choose Allow.
  4. In a chat, turn Graphivo on from the tools menu and ask for a design.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organisation first.

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop uses the same connectors as claude.ai: add Graphivo under Settings › Connectors with https://graphivo.com/mcp. Older versions that only read claude_desktop_config.json can reach it through the mcp-remote bridge:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "graphivo": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://graphivo.com/mcp"] }
  }
}

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http graphivo https://graphivo.com/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Graphivo to sign in. For scripts and CI, a personal access token works without a browser:

claude mcp add --transport http graphivo https://graphivo.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer gv_pat_…"

Other MCP clients

The server speaks Streamable HTTP at https://graphivo.com/mcp. It uses OAuth 2.1 as the MCP authorization spec describes: clients discover it from the server's 401 answer, register themselves (dynamic client registration) and sign the user in with PKCE. Clients that cannot do OAuth can send a personal access token in the Authorization header.

Permissions and safety

  • See your designs lets an app list, open, preview and download your designs. Create and edit designs lets it change them. Use your credits for AI lets it run AI tools that spend credits. You choose when you connect.
  • Every change an app makes is one step in the editor's undo history, and appears in Recent activity on your account page.
  • Disconnect an app, or revoke a token, at any time under Apps and API on your account page. It stops working at once.
  • Tokens are stored only as fingerprints (we can't read them back), and download links an app receives expire after 15 minutes.

Assistants in your browser

While a design is open, the editor also offers its tools to AI agents built into the browser (the WebMCP standard, and extensions that bridge it to MCP). A bar at the top of the canvas shows when an assistant is working; Stop ends what it is doing and switches its access off until you allow it again.

The API and access tokens

Everything the MCP server does is also a REST API under https://graphivo.com/api/v1, described by an OpenAPI document. Make a personal access token under Apps and API on your account page (it is shown once) and send it as a bearer token:

curl -H "Authorization: Bearer gv_pat_…" https://graphivo.com/api/v1/designs

curl -X POST -H "Authorization: Bearer gv_pat_…" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  https://graphivo.com/api/v1/designs/dsn_…/commands \
  -d '{"commands":[{"command":"createText","input":{"text":"Hello","x":72,"y":72,"style":{"size":48}}}]}'

Units are points (1/72 inch); positions are measured from a page's top-left corner; element ids come from GET /api/v1/designs/{id}. GET /api/v1/commands lists every command with its input schema.

Scripts

In the editor, Scripts › Script console runs JavaScript against the open design with the same commands, as one undo step. Scripts run in a sandbox: they can't see your account, your cookies or the page, and they reach the network only when a plugin asks for it and you allow it.
