AI band logo generator
Get custom band lettering and badges in about 20 seconds. Pick the one that still works on a one-color shirt, a sticker and the front of your kick drum.
Genre conventions, and when to break them
Most band logos people remember are the name, drawn to sound like the music. Full AI logo gives your band name a custom hand-lettered look; read each design slowly before you pick, because a letter can come out doubled or missing.
Metal
Ornate, symmetrical, spiky lettering, sometimes deliberately hard to read. Keep a plainer version too, so promoters can print your name legibly on a festival poster.
Punk and hardcore
DIY energy: stencils, cut-out letters, photocopied grit. Keep the roughness in the shapes rather than in fine grain, which gets lost in print.
Indie and alternative
Minimal, often lowercase, lots of space. The risk is looking like a coffee brand, so give the type one odd detail.
Hip-hop
Heavy letters, graffiti influences, monograms and crests. Strong outlines matter, because the logo ends up on caps, jackets and cover art.
Electronic
Geometric shapes, wide or futuristic type, and a symbol that can stand alone on the screen behind the booth.
Folk, country and Americana
Vintage badges, western serifs and hand-drawn details. The vintage-badge preset is a natural fit.
Make a merch-ready version
Screen printers usually charge per color, and a lot of band shirts are black. Design a one- or two-color version from the start, including one in white ink on black.
- Reduce it to one color and check it still says the band's name.
- Remove gradients and very thin lines. Screen printers have minimum line widths, so ask yours.
- Prepare a white version for dark garments and a black one for light garments.
- Send printers vector files (SVG, EPS or PDF), not screenshots or images saved from social media.
- Test the logo at 2 inches wide for stickers and pins.
- Plan for back patches and the kick drum head too. Both are often round, so a circular or emblem version earns its keep on stage.
- Keep the city and year out of the main logo and put them on tour shirts instead.
Don't borrow a famous band's look
Well-known band logos are often registered trademarks, and lookalike merch can attract takedown requests or legal letters. Describe the feeling instead: "jagged, symmetrical, cold blackletter", "hand-cut paper letters, chaotic" or "wide, clean geometric capitals".
Even then, compare your pick with the big names in your genre. Search your band name before printing merch, and talk to a trademark attorney if you plan to register it.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can AI make a metal logo that's still readable?
Yes, ornate and still mostly readable, which is the sweet spot for most bands. Generate several in Full AI logo mode and pick the one where the name survives at small size. Keep a simpler text version for posters, ticketing sites and streaming platforms.
Which generation mode should a band use?
Full AI logo mode if you want custom lettering, which suits most rock, metal, punk and hip-hop acts. Symbol + text if you want a symbol with your name in a clean font that's always spelled right, which suits many indie, electronic and acoustic acts.
Can we get a white version for black T-shirts?
Yes. Every package includes full color, black and white versions as SVG, PDF and EPS, which is what a screen printer works from, plus transparent PNGs for social media and streaming profiles.
Can we sell merch with the logo on it?
Yes. The commercial license covers products you sell, and it's exclusive to your final design. If the band takes off, a trademark on the name and logo, filed after an attorney's clearance search, is the stronger protection.
Our band name is long. What now?
Use a stacked layout or let the most distinctive word dominate, with the rest smaller. For pins, guitar picks and avatars, make a short form: initials, a monogram or a symbol.
Can we have a symbol as well as the name?
Yes, and it's worth having for back patches, drumheads, pins and social avatars. Generate it in Symbol + text mode with the emblem or vintage-badge preset, using the same mood words as your lettering.
