- Two lines converging to a point, from options to a decision
- A single path with one decisive turn
- Overlapping circles for fit, alignment or integration work
- Brackets or quotation marks framing your initial
- A lighthouse reduced to a beam and a base (a classic for advisory work)
- A knot or bridge for change-management and merger projects
- Three stepped blocks for phased roadmaps
- A monogram with a single cut-out for a solo practice
Color
Color palettes that work
Boardroom ink
#1C1C28 · #5B5F97 · #F5F5F7
Near-black with a muted indigo looks serious on a white proposal and reverses cleanly onto a dark title slide. The indigo doubles as the first color in your chart palette.
Teal signal
#0B3C49 · #0E7C7B · #D4E6E1
Most firms default to navy; deep teal reads just as credible but is easier to spot in a stack of competing proposals. The light tint works for table shading in reports.
Terracotta advisory
#3B2F2F · #C0583A · #F1E3D3
Warmer and more human, for coaching, leadership and people-focused consulting. The dark brown carries text; the terracotta gives you a highlight color for key numbers on slides.

Consulting
Sora
A modern geometric sans with a slightly technical feel, good for strategy, data and operations consultants. It holds up in a slide footer at small sizes.
Consulting
Playfair Display
A high-contrast serif that looks editorial on a proposal cover or report title. Use it for the name only and pair it with a plain sans for the body text of your decks.
Consulting
DM Sans
Quiet and neutral, so the logo matches almost any slide template a client hands you. A safe choice if you often present inside other companies' decks.
Styles that suit consultants
Minimal
Simple shapes, lots of space, one or two colors
Abstract
A unique abstract mark
Geometric
Precise circles, triangles and grids
Clichés to avoid
- Puzzle pieces: the 'we solve problems' metaphor is everywhere, and the tabs blur at slide-corner size.
- Handshakes: stock imagery that says nothing about your specialty.
- Light bulbs for 'ideas': overused across consulting, coaching and marketing alike.
- Up-and-to-the-right arrows: hard to own, and on a chart-heavy deck they look like data.
- A long firm name with a tagline locked into the mark: in a slide footer it shrinks to a gray smear.
Designing a consulting logo that works
For most consultants the slide deck is where the logo is seen most: large on the title slide, small in the footer of every slide after it. Then come the proposal cover, the invoice, LinkedIn, the email signature and the website header. Clients see the footer version dozens of times per meeting, so the compact horizontal lockup matters more than any big hero version.
Your logo colors will become your chart colors, so pick a primary that leaves room for two or three related tones. Plan a square mark for the LinkedIn avatar and favicon, where a full name won't fit. If your clients share a sector, mention it when you generate ('healthcare operations', 'SaaS pricing') for a more specific symbol than a generic abstract shape.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Should a solo consultant use their own name as the brand?
If clients hire you for your judgment and network, your name is often your strongest brand, and it's what people search for after meeting you. A firm name makes more sense if you plan to add associates, sell the practice or need a descriptive name to get found. Some consultants do both: a firm name in the logo and their own name up front on LinkedIn.
How do I use my logo in PowerPoint and Google Slides?
Insert a transparent PNG in Google Slides, and a PNG or SVG in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365. Put it in the slide master so every new slide gets it. Every package includes transparent PNGs and SVG, PDF and EPS files, plus a white version for dark title slides.
Which colors work for a consulting logo?
Pick a dark, credible primary that reads as text on white and can lead a chart palette. Navy is the default, while deep teal, indigo or terracotta are just as professional and easier to remember. Avoid bright primaries as the main color, since they compete with the data on your slides.
Does a consulting firm need a symbol, or is a wordmark enough?
A wordmark works well on decks and proposals, and many consultancies use nothing else. The gap shows up in square spaces like LinkedIn avatars, favicons and video-call profiles. If you skip the symbol, use your initials as a lettermark for those spots.
How can a small firm look established without copying the big consultancies?
Copy their discipline. Large firms look established because they use one typeface, one or two colors and the same layout on every document, and you can do the same with a simple mark and consistent templates. Imitating a big firm's colors or letter shapes reads as a knock-off to the clients who know them best.
